New prototype of Regio-Shuttle RS1 for České dráhy

28.03.2025 // New prototype of Regio-Shuttle RS1 for České dráhy

At the end of March 2025, a Regio-Shuttle RS1 prototype with an optimised PRM toilet and an interior concept specially designed for the Liberec region was delivered to České dráhy.

The rail vehicle is part of a purchase agreement for the provision of a total of sixteen Regio-Shuttle RS1s, which was concluded between ČD and HEROS Helvetic Rolling Stock in 2023 as the third delivery package. A total of nine vehicles from this delivery package will be designed accordingly, while the other seven multiple units will receive an interior design with a PRM toilet as specified for other regions.

By providing this prototype, the third vehicle from package 3 has now been delivered. Prior to delivery, all traction units will undergo extensive rebuilding and – where necessary – another main inspection. HEROS is collaborating in this endeavour with OWS in Weiden/Upper Palatinate, Germany. Before being put into operation as planned, the vehicles will be equipped with a wheelchair-accessible toilet and a wheelchair space. Furthermore, due to specific requirements of the regional commissioning authorities, České dráhy will be making additional adaptations to the Czech train protection system before deployment in the Czech Republic. In particular, additional services include a passenger information system, power sockets, WiFi equipment or even a specific colour scheme.
