The Bvcmz RIC couchette coach is a vehicle approved in the RIC area with lying and seating options in individual compartments. The vehicle model 248 has been built since 1996. The vehicles were equipped with climate control and closed toilet systems. Couchette coaches of the type Bcm 243 were used as ‘donor coaches’.
Along with toilets, three washrooms, which were equipped only with a basin, were also offered. There is also a separate staff compartment with appliances for the preparation of coffee and tea and a refrigerator.
The vehicle is a compartment coach. The Bvcmz has 6 seats or, alternatively, 5 couchettes per compartment.
The coaches have electrical sockets for the operation of laptops or charging mobile telephones in the compartments.
The Bvcmz 248 couchette coaches have a permitted top speed of 160 km/h in passenger operation and have short braking distances, even without magnetic brakes.
As an RIC passenger coach, the coach is approved for international passenger transportation.
The Bvcmz coach 248 has over 60 second class seats or 50 couchettes. The coach also has a staff compartment.
The Bvcmz coaches are planned for a variety of voltage systems for power and can be operated with train line voltages of AC 1000 V 16.7 Hz, AC 1500 V 50 Hz, DC 1500 V, and DC 3000 V.
The model 248 coaches used in international rail transport sit on RIC bogies type Minden-Deutz 36, abbreviated to MD36 or LD36 for unpowered bogie 36. By adhering to the criteria for RIC bogies and because they are used in many countries, a lot of workshops in different countries are used to maintaining MD36 bogies.
HEROS offers the Bvcmz 248 for sale.
